TWO MINUTES OF TORAH | YITRO | EXODUS 18:1-20:23

One of the consequences of our pandemic life is isolation. By staying inside, our homes have become more our dwelling places; they have become islands on which we spend our time. For some of us, our islands have everything we need (maybe even more than we need). For others, especially people living alone, or people living in care facilities, their islands can reinforce what they lack.

Our action-packed Torah portion this week, Yitro, finds Moses struggling with his aloneness. Moses is overwhelmed by hearing every dispute amongst the Israelites and the wise leader Yitro encourages him to find ways to share his burden.

How can we be like Moses and share our burdens in this particular moment? What do you need help with? How can you help others?
