V’nahafoch hu. On Purim, we are instructed to turn everything upside down. In the story told in Megillat Esther, Haman (boooo!) prepares to be honored, but Mordechai receives the honor instead. Although the Jews are slated to be killed, they are saved instead (and do some killing of their own). We dress up in costumes to mask our identities. One etymology of the name Esther is that it comes from the Hebrew word that means “hidden.” Only when Esther brings to light her hidden Jewish identity is she able to save the Jewish people.
What in your life needs to be turned on its head? How could you look at things from a different angle? What do you want to try for in the near future?
