In regards to the plague of darkness we read, “No one could see anyone else, and for three days no one left their place. Yet all the Israelites had light in their dwellings.” (Exodus 10:23) We recorded this video back on March 14th, after the last in-person Bat Mitzvah we were able to facilitate. We sang these words in the hopes of bridging the holidays of Purim and Passover, holidays that are strung together by light. The words of this song, “The Jews had light and happiness and joy and love. May it be so for us as well,” (Esther 8:16), invite us to be agents of spiritual light, even in times of gathering spiritual darkness. May light be our guide.
