2023 MLK Weekend Sermons

We’re so grateful to have been able to gather with our Temple community and our friends at FAME Church to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy this past weekend.

If you missed any of this weekend’s services — or want to share recordings with friends or family — read on!

Rev. Dr. Carey Anderson’s Sermon at Temple

On Friday night, we welcomed the FAME community to Temple’s Seattle Campus for a special Rock Shabbat service. Thank you to our friends at FAME for worshipping alongside us, to the Praise Team for leading us in song, and to Rev. Dr. Carey Anderson for his courageous sermon condemning antisemitism. Watch Pastor Anderson’s full remarks below.

Rabbi Daniel Weiner’s Sermon at FAME

Our friends at FAME gave us a warm welcome both in-person and online on Sunday morning. Rabbi Weiner and Chava Mirel shared their musical talents with the FAME community, and Rabbi Weiner delivered a powerful sermon on building bridges between the Black and Jewish communities. Watch his full remarks below.

Thank you to all the staff and community members who made this weekend’s events possible. Special thanks to Dina Alhadeff, Julie Burrell, Frances Carr, and Laurie Warshal Cohen for stewarding our community partnership, and for laying the groundwork for even more TDHS/FAME collaborations to come.
