Two Minutes of Torah | B’har | Leviticus 25:1-26:2

A Great Rest and Reset

What would it look like if the whole world rested at once? What would you most look forward to? What would you most dread? What if that rest centered around harvesting, manipulating, and/or exploiting the Earth?

That is precisely what the Torah requires of us this week in parashat B’har. The Israelites are instructed to observe shmitah, where every seven years they are to give the land a “Shabbat,” a complete rest.

This year, 5782, is a shmitah year! In this year of resting and resetting, how might you bring Shabbat to more parts of your life? How might you imagine adopting a more restorative relationship with the Earth?
