Sukkot

We welcome in the new Jewish year on Rosh Hashanah and renew our spirits during Yom Kippur – but our High Holy Day festivities don’t end there!

Sukkot, The Festival of Booths, begins five days after Yom Kippur. We celebrate this pilgrimage festival by building a sukkah or hut, similar to the dwellings the Israelites built while wandering in the desert. The sukkah – with its three walls and thatched roof – becomes a gathering space for family, friends, and neighbors; many Jews eat and even sleep in their sukkot!

We’ll have a number of Sukkot-themed programs running from October 16-October 23, from learning sessions to social gatherings. Read on to learn more; we’ll be updating this post as more Sukkot programs are announced.
