Event Details

With advances in DNA technology, our understanding of the role of genetics in human
diseases has dramatically increased. Unfortunately, it has uncovered a higher frequency of
genetic diseases in the Ashkenazi, as well as Mizrahi and Sephardic
communities. Although most of the disorders that present in infancy can be avoided by
screening prospective parents, there are currently no standard screening tests for the
growing number of adult onset disorders among the Jewish fbd582. The goal of this
talk, led by Sheila Weiss, MS, Licensed Certified Genetic Counselor, is to provide you
with some general information to assess whether you and your family are at high risk.
